I like the beach…but not only the beach. I like nature in general. Caves, mountains and hills, trees, flowers…just some of Mother Nature’s great wonders. I also appreciate the great structures made by men. The rice terraces is a product of man and nature working together. The magnificent old churches and buildings from the Spanish colonial times in the Philippines are also brilliantly built by men. If you are not a water person, there are also many places in the Philippines that you can visit. I have been to Vigan, Ilocos Sur and Laoag, Ilocos Norte. There, we visited a lot of churches and seen a lot of beautiful old houses. We also tried the local delicacies such as the Vigan empanada and the bagnet. I have visited Sagada. There, we went caving. The Sumaguing cave is quite challenging and is not for you if you have a faint heart. But it is definitely worth the challenge. The hanging coffins and burial caves are also a must see because where else can you see these. The Philippines has a lot of nice historical places that you can visit. Nearest maybe, is Intramuros in Manila. I enjoyed my day tour of Intramuros last February 15, 2008. I like the walk on its grand walls and our own tour inside Fort Santiago. Corregidor Island is also another historical place that is worth a visit. I have been there way back when I was still in college. I definitely want to go back there again. Lots of great cannons and ruins plus a little refresher about our history.
